British Airways action: how it affects Irish passengers

FLIGHTS IN and out of Irish airports will not be directly affected by the British Airways (BA) strike.

FLIGHTS IN and out of Irish airports will not be directly affected by the British Airways (BA) strike.

However, the journeys of hundreds of Irish passengers connecting to long-haul and short-haul BA flights will be disrupted. BA does not operate flights directly to Ireland, but books connecting passengers on through a codeshare arrangement operated by Aer Lingus.

Aer Lingus flights from Dublin to Gatwick/Heathrow, Cork to Heathrow, Shannon to Heathrow and Belfast to Heathrow are due to operate as normal. BA confirmed that all codeshare/partner flights by other carriers are due to operate as normal. Ryanair is also offering a “BA rescue fare” of £69.99 for passengers affected by the strike.

From Heathrow, BA plans to operate almost two-thirds of its long-haul flights, but two-thirds of short-haul flights will be cancelled. BA plans to operate all flights from London City airport.
