A Briton working in Iraq was shot dead by a gunman in Baghdad last week, Britain's Foreign Office said today.
British media reports said the man was a former Royal Marine, Brian Tilley, who was in Iraq working as a private contractor.
Mr Tilley (47) was reportedly killed last Friday when a gunman walked into the house where he was staying and opened fire.
"Until we have made official contact with the family, we cannot confirm details," the foreign office spokeswoman said.
