Steve Bruce believes Birmingham supporters are finally beginning to see the best of Republic of Ireland striker Clinton Morrison.

Morrison took time to settle in the West Midlands after his then club record £4.5million move from Crystal Palace 18 months ago and a serious shoulder problem added to his misery.

But in the last few weeks he has started to show why Bruce gambled on paying such a hefty fee for a player unproven at Premiership level.

Now Morrison will be looking to steer Blues into the last 16 of the FA Cup at the expense of Division One strugglers Wimbledon in Saturday's fourth round tie at St Andrews.

Bruce said: "People are now seeing exactly what I bought and in the last three or four games Clinton has been excellent.

"Clinton had a tremendous record in the First Division with 70-odd goals in four seasons, two of which were in a side battling to stay up.

"The whole thing with moving clubs, with coming here from London and then having the shoulder injury, has made it very difficult for him but he is starting to adapt now.

"I am quite confident that he can do the business week in and week out in the Premiership. The rest is up to Clinton.

"The fans here ask for endeavour and enthusiasm and Clinton has shown that since he came into the side. We look a threat. Personally I've never lost that faith in him to come good.

Morrison would dearly like to experience some success in the FA Cup. He said: "I've done well in the League Cup but my record in the FA Cup is not good and we are hoping that we can go on a little run this season.

"It's only four or five games and then you are in the final. I think this is the furthest I have been in the competition. It's a bit of a jinx competition for me.

"We know the Premiership is our priority but I think this year the gaffer wants a good run because we know what can be on offer, a place in Europe if you win it.

"Some of the big teams have gone, some more play each other in this round, and so we have got a great chance.
