The former Roxy Music frontman and "coolest man in Britain" as voted by Arena magazine, Bryan Ferry, will take to the stage in Cork today as part of the seventh annual Heineken Green Energy festival.
Ferry's set at the Munster Showgrounds will consist primarily of songs from his new album Frantic as well as old Roxy Music classics such as Avalon and More Than This.
Over 40,000 people attended the festival in Cork this weekend where headline acts included The Frames, De La Soul and Van Morrison who performed on Saturday night alongside skiffle maestro Lonnie Donegan.
US funk rappers, De La Soul, made their only Irish appearance of the year last night at the showgrounds.
Less harsh than many of their fellow rappers, De La Soul's pleasantly lilting rhythms helped them chart their debut offering in the early 1990s, one of the first such acts to cross into the album market.
In their latest release, Art Official Intelligence, they collaborate with the Beastie Boys, Busta Rhymes and Chaka Khan.
Demo clinics also took place in Cork this weekend which enabled up-and-coming artists to play their songs to a panel from the music industry.
Artists were allocated 20 minutes in which the panel provided feedback on their work.
The clinics were organised by Jackie Hayden of Hot Press magazine and Johnny Lappin. author of The Need to Know Guide to Careers in Music.
Over 100 pubs were involved in this year's festival, playing host to acts such as Mundy, The Four of Us, Gemma Hayes and Hedrock Valley Beats.
