BSkyB no longer has exclusive rights to broadcast home international soccer matches after the pay TV broadcaster changed its deal with the FAI today.

The amendment comes amid anticipated changes in legislation, which will ensure major sporting events - such as the upcoming Euro 2004 qualifiers against Albania and Georgia - are accessible on the State's public broadcaster RTÉ. The news comes after a High Court hearing today.

The High Court will also hear an application from RTÉ next Thursday, seeking an order to direct the FAI to allow it the rights to broadcast the games.

No details of the renegotiated deal with BSkyB were disclosed, and should RTÉ gain broadcasting rights, an arbitrator will determine how much RTÉ have to pay for the rights.
