Buildings destroyed by major fire in Lifford

Two buildings have been destroyed by a major fire in Lifford, Co Donegal.

Gardaí are investigating the cause of the blaze, which was discovered in Bridge Street at around 4.00am.

The scene has been preserved pending a technical examination and gardaí have put traffic diversions in place until this examination is complete and the area has been declared safe.

Witnesses are asked to contact Lifford Garda Station on 074 9141000 or the Garda Condifential Number on 1800 666 111.

"A number of people would have been in the area between these times and we would like to speak with them to rule them out of our inquiries," a Garda spokesman said.
