London - The killers of James Bulger are to begin a legal battle to continue the cloak of secrecy that surrounds them even after they have turned 18, it was revealed last night.
Lawyers for Jon Venables and Robert Thompson will go to the High Courts of Justice in London in November, asking that an injunction banning the media taking or printing photographs of them or reporting on their progress be continued through the next stage of the penal system.
The boys were jailed for life in 1993 after a trial at Preston Crown Court for the killing of two-year-old James on Merseyside.
At the time injunctions issued were linked only until they reached 18. Venables was 18 on August 13th and Thompson will be 18 on Wednesday.
