Munster fans preparing to leave Dublin port for Wales last night were in buoyant form, despite the cancellation of some ferries due to bad weather.
Paul O'Connor, Donal O'Carroll and Noel McCarthy had travelled to Dublin from Limerick after being told that their original Stena Line sailing from Rosslare to Fishguard, due to leave at 8am today, had been cancelled. Instead, they took the company's sailing from Dublin at 9.15pm last night.
Despite now facing a longer drive to the match in Cardiff, O'Connor said they were just glad to have tickets and a place at a campsite in Penarth, Wales.
Tony O'Dwyer had also travelled by car from Limerick yesterday with his friends after hearing that today's Rosslare to Fishguard sailing had been cancelled. "We had to get off work early . . . but we have our hotels booked, and we have our tickets," he said.
Brothers Seán and Donal Reen, from Cork but living in Dublin, were anxiously awaiting the arrival of a busload of friends travelling from Kerry. "The last we heard it was stuck somewhere on the Long Mile Road," Seán Reen said.
