Rangoon - Burma's ruling military said yesterday it would stop co-operating with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) after the body accused Rangoon of employing widespread forced labour and called for fresh sanctions.
"Today, Myanmar [Burma] is singled out for punitive action. Tomorrow it may be another developing country," the foreign affairs ministry said in a statement.
Burma said the decision called into question the "credibility, integrity and reputation of the governing body and ILO".
After a day-long debate, the ILO's governing body voted overwhelmingly on Thursday that Burma had not complied with a global treaty on eradicating forced labour.
