Premier League review:Fraizer Campbell and Darren Bent earned Sunderland a 2-1 win over relegation-haunted Burnley at the Stadium of Light, the latter scoring his 23rd goal of the season.
Campbell broke the deadlock when he guided Alan Hutton’s near-post cross past the helpless Brian Jensen and into the net, and John Mensah steered Steed Malbranque’s free-kick wide from close range before Campbell’s header set up Bent to double the lead.
Jensen had to be sharp to deny both strikers their second goals and Steven Thompson pulled a goal back in the 82nd minute, but the Black Cats held on.
Burnley's fellow strugglers Hull city were held 0-0 at Birmingham.
Craig Gardner and Lee Bowyer’s first-half efforts for Birmingham were saved at full stretch by Matt Duke, selected ahead of Boaz Myhill in the Hull goal,
while Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink went close for the Tigers with a diving header from Andy Dawson’s cross.
Cameron Jerome wasted a good chance for the hosts early in the second half and Hull could have won it in stoppage time as lifelong Blues fan Craig Fagan’s thumping volley flashed wide.
Matt Taylor scored two late goals as Bolton came from behind to as good as ensure their survival with a 2-1 win at Stoke.

Mikel Arteta’s fourth-minute penalty gave Everton the upper hand at Blackburn, the Spaniard slotting home after being brought down by Ryan Nelsen’s reckless challenge — though he was later lucky to escape a red card after appearing to poke Morten Gamst Pedersen in the eye.
