The bus driver charged in connection with the deaths of five people has been sent for trial at the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court this morning.

Mr Kenneth Henvey (48), of Whitethorn Crescent, Clondalkin, Dublin, was charged in September with dangerous driving causing the deaths of five people at Wellington Quay on February 21st.

At Dublin District Court, Judge Brian Smith advised Mr Henvey that if he intended to rely on an alibi he would have to give full details to the prosecution within 14 days.

The Book of Evidence in the case was served and the State made no objection to Mr Henvey remaining out on bail.

The charge in the case is of dangerous driving causing the death of five people at Wellington Quay on February 21st. The accident occurred when an out-of-service bus mounted the kerb and collided with a group of people queuing for a bus to Lucan.

Five people were killed and another 17 others were injured.

Mr Henvey was remanded on continuing bail of €5,000. He was  granted legal aid when he appeared in court last month.
