The US President George W. Bush has arrived at the Vatican for talks with Pope John Paul II expected to focus on the Middle East and scandals that have affected the Roman Catholic Church in the United States.
The status of Jerusalem is also likely to be raised in the meeting, to be held in the pope's private library.
"I will tell him that I am concerned about the Catholic Church in America,'' Bush told journalists at this military base near Rome on the sidelines of the NATO-Russia summit.
