A businessman has pleaded not guilty at the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to running a brothel near the city centre almost two years ago.

Mr Brian O'Byrne (36), Temple View Row, Clare Hall, Donaghmede, Dublin, denies two charges of allowing a premises at Synge Street to be used as a brothel and for prostitution on November 9th, 1999.

The court heard evidence from men who were intercepted by gardai on surveillance duty after they left the premises. The witnesses said they got the address when they rang a phone number in an In Dublin magazine advertisement for a massage parlour.

They said they were told the charge was £60 inclusive, which it was understood, included a full body massage, oral sex and sexual intercourse, if required.
