The former leader of the hardline Orange Order Spirit of Drumcree movement, Mr Joel Patton, says he will not rejoin the order until it takes action to expel the Co Armagh Grand Lodge chaplain, the Rev William Bingham.
Mr Patton says the Co Armagh chaplain is guilty of bringing the Orange Order into disrepute by linking it with the murder of the three Quinn children who died in an arson attack on their home in Ballymoney, Co Antrim, in July 1998.
Following the death of the Quinn children, Mr Bingham called for the Orangemen at Drumcree to quit the protest.
The accusation of Orange Order involvement in the Quinn murders had subsequently been proved wrong by the conviction last year of Garfield Gilmore, said Mr Patton. He added that Mr Bingham's intervention had destroyed the Drumcree protest.
