Call to reopen 1976 murder

Relatives of a Co Louth man murdered 20 years ago are asking for the case to be reopened

Relatives of a Co Louth man murdered 20 years ago are asking for the case to be reopened. Seamus Ludlow (47), from Mountpleasant, Dundalk, was found shot dead on May 2nd, 1976, apparently as he was walking home from a public house near the Border. He was a member of Fine Gael.

In a statement yesterday, relatives accused gardai of misleading them into believing the IRA had killed Mr Ludlow and said they had information "front a reliable source" that Mr Ludlow was killed by loyalists.

The family's statement called on the Garda Commissioner, Mr Patrick Culligan, to reopen the case.
