The money being used to pay off Anglo Irish Bank’s debts is having “catastrophic consequences on Irish society”, according to a campaign which is calling on the Government to suspend the payment of these debts.
The newly formed Debt Justice Action group yesterday launched the Anglo: Not Our Debt campaign. It is calling on the Government to suspend the repayment of the debts of Anglo Irish Bank and Irish Nationwide Building Society and to enter negotiations with relevant agencies, including the European Central Bank, with a view to negotiating a write-down of the debt.
