London - The British government struggled yesterday to prevent further dissemination of a list of secret agents allegedly published by a renegade spy. The list was still posted on the Internet on copycat "mirror" websites, although the original site had been withdrawn. The names on the list include a Cambridge don, the son of a former Conservative cabinet minister, and three people said to have been involved in the death of Princess Diana in a car crash in Paris in 1997.
Our foreign staff write: None of the alleged MI6 agents on the list is identified as having served in Ireland. The list is available at http://jya.com/mi6-list.htm
