Opponents of the proposed super-dump in the scenic Silvermines Mountains in Co Tipperary are to bring their campaign to Leinster House and will demonstrate outside the Dail for two hours from midday tomorrow. The Silvermines Environmental Action Group has written to the Minister for Health, Mr Cowen, and the Minister for the Environment , Mr Dempsey, seeking meetings with them during the demonstration. According to Mr Eamon de Stafort, PRO for the group, "We will be highlighting our plight and try to meet as many decision-makers as possible in the political arena".

Waste Management Ireland - whose US-based parent company, Waste Management Inc, is the largest waste management company in the world - has applied for planning permission to north Tipperary County Council to develop the dump at a disused open-cast mine at Ballynoe to cater for waste from up to nine counties for up to 25 years.
