Cannabis worth €3.6m seized in Dublin, Galway

In a joint Customs/Garda swoop, cannabis resin with a street value of €3.5 million was when a lorry was stopped on the Old Swords Road in Dublin yesterday.

Three hundred kilos of the drug were discovered inside the lorry, concealed in ceramic tiles.

A 41-year-old man was arrested and taken to Blanchardstown Garda Station. He is being held under the provisions of the Cinal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

In Galway 10 kilograms of cannabis resin with a street value of €100,000 was seized. The seizure was made yesterday afternoon on Dyke Road in the city.

One man was arrested following the seizure and was detained under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act at Mill St Garda Station.

The 22-year-old man appeared at a special sitting of Galway District Court today and has been remanded in custody to appear before Galway District Court on Monday morning.
