Galway manager Ger Loughnane will have both Canning brothers at his disposal for the forthcoming All-Ireland championship after elder statesman Ollie decided to rejoin the panel over the weekend.
The 31-year-old, who captained Portumna to their All-Ireland club title last month, opted out of the inter-county scene last season but having reassessed the situation has now elected to return to Loughnane's squad.
The news comes less than 24 hours after younger brother Joe made his long-awaited debut for the Tribesmen, the prolific teenager scoring four points in Galway's semi-final win over Cork.
Loughnane has made no secret of his desire to involve Canning, still more than capable of doing a job for Galway, in his set-up, inviting the corner back to end his self-imposed exile earlier this year.
