GAA:Graham Canty appears to be winning his fitness battle ahead of Sunday's All-Ireland football final after coming through training with the Rebels last night. It was the Cork skipper's first full run-out with the Cork panel since the semi-final win over Dublin.
Canty has been troubled by a hamstring injury since the win over Roscommon and had been a doubt for Dublin match right up until throw-in. In the event, he was able to lead the Rebels out at Croke Park but failed to last the course and has been struggling to regain fitness in the meantime.
A veteran of two All-Ireland finals, the Bantry man will be desperate to get another shot at an elusive winner’s medal but Cork boss Conor Counihan must weigh up the pros and cons of selecting a player who may not be able to operate at full throttle.
Fintan Goold is also back in the frame as he recovers from an ankle problem but Anthony Lynch remains a real concern. Counihan and his Down counterpart James McCartan are due to name their starting line-ups after training tomorrow night.
