GAA – team news:All-Ireland champions Cork were boosted with news that Graham Canty returns ahead their  championship opener - Munster SFC quarter-final - against Clare at Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Sunday (throw-in 3.30pm).

A hamstring injury has sidelined the Rebels' talisman for the entire league campaign but outings with his club side Bantry Blues provided sufficient evidence to get the nod from management.

Canty is named on the left wing in a side showing three changes from that which started last year's final. Eoin Cadogan, Paudie Kissane and John Miskella step aside as Jamie and Denis O'Sullivan also come into the side.

Kildare named their starting line-up ahead of Sunday’s Leinster SFC preliminary round opener against Wicklow with Shane Connolly set to make his championship debut in goal in Portlaoise.

Connolly earned his start after strong performances for the Lilywhites during the league campaign. All-Star John Doyle starts at corner forward despite rumours he was set for a midfield role.

Elsewhere Eoin Brosnan’s name was on a Kerry championship teamsheet for the first time in three years ahead of Sunday’s Munster SFC quarter-final against Tipperary in Killarney.

Bryan Sheehan comes into the Kerry midfield with Dr Crokes' Kieran O'Leary named at corner forward. There is no place in the starting XV for Paul Galvin, who must be content with a place on the bench as he strives to regain full match fitness.

Galvin is joined among the replacements by Michéal Quirke and David Geaney, who gave a good account of himself in the league campaign.

Colm Cooper will captain the side for the first time in the championship when the sides line out at Fitzgerald Stadium on Sunday (throw-in 3.30pm).

Lorcan Egan will make his debut from centre back for Tipperary in the only change to take on Kerry.
