A man was charged with two counts of attempted murder in Derry last night after a stolen car was driven at a couple in Coleraine.
Detectives said a 31-year-old woman suffered serious spinal injuries as a result of the incident in the Ashbourne Park area of Coleraine.
It is understood the driver of a silver Citroen Xara attempted to knock down a man but instead struck his partner.
Police confirmed a 27-year-old Portstewart man will appear before Coleraine Magistrates Court today charged with two counts of attempted murder and the theft of a motor vehicle.
A 17-year-old woman will also appear in court charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.
The car was later found burnt out in the Waterside car park in the town, following the incident, which happened around 9.30pm on Friday.
Meanwhile, two women arrested tonight in connection with the incident are helping police with their inquiries.
A man who was arrested on suspicion of withholding information has been released on bail pending further inquiries.
