Former Kilkenny hurler DJ Carey has been released from hospital. The nine-time GAA All Star was admitted to the coronary care unit of St Luke’s Hospital in Kilkenny on Tuesday evening.
It is understood that he was monitored overnight and was discharged yesterday. The 41-year-old was admitted to hospital after he collapsed earlier on Tuesday. He was in a Garda station waiting area when he became ill.
On Tuesday his mother Maura Carey said she did not yet know the cause of his sudden illness but that he was “comfortable”.
Mr Carey’s cleaning company thrived during the Celtic Tiger, but was hit by the recession.
