Coastal zone management and monitoring water quality are among the themes of a cross-Border maritime festival to be held in Carlingford, Co Louth, later this week, writes Lorna Siggins, Marine Correspondent.
Carlingford Maritime '98 has been geared to replace the oyster festival with which the harbour had become synonymous. It will include a trade show, workshops, seminars and seafood festival, and is being jointly hosted by the local community and Bord Iascaigh Mhara.
The Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources, Dr Woods, will open the festival tomorrow and the programme runs until Sunday.
