Knitwear manufacturer Carraig Donn is to create 22 jobs as part of an expansion plan.

The Co Mayo-based company expansion is being supported by Enterprise Ireland.

Managing director Pat Hughes said the investment was a "very significant development". It is expected to help drive export-led growth and create the new positions.

"A key element of the success of the Company is the dedicated, multi-skilled, and highly flexible workforce which is fundamental to product repositioning and development strategies," he said.

Carraig Donn, which was established in 1981, is Ireland's largest home based knitwear manufacturer.

The company is due to unveil its autumn 2010 range at Showcase Dublin on January 24th.
