Dublin hurler Peadar Carton will miss the under-21 All-Ireland final against Galway after being having his eight-week ban upheld by the Central Hearings Committee last night.
The new will come as a major blow to Dublin as they continue their preparations for Sunday week's decider with the forward, who contributed 1-2 in the Leinster final, a major presence in the side.
The ban arises from an incident involving Carton and Tipperary's Paul Curran during last month's All-Ireland qualifier in which the Tipp man suffered a broken jaw.
Carton was originally suspended for eight weeks but succeeded in appealing the suspension to the Central Appeals Committee, which referred the matter back for a re-hearing.
Following a last night's meeting, the GAA confirmed that "a penalty of eight weeks suspension as proposed by the CCCC was imposed on Peadar Carton."
