The trial of a nurse accused of assaulting and poisoning two patients at Naas General Hospital was adjourned yesterday to Naas Circuit Court on December 3rd .

Ms Noreen Mulholland (33), Runabeg Close, Kildare town, has been charged with two counts of assault causing harm and two counts of administering a substance known to interfere with bodily functions.

The charges relate to two male patients who attended Naas General Hospital when she was a nurse there in 2003.

Yesterday Judge Raymond Groarke made the adjournment to allow Ms Mulholland's legal team make an application to have the case transferred to Dublin Circuit Court.

The court also heard the defence had received a disclosure of five volumes of reports and it needed time to assess them.

The trial is expected to take at least two weeks. The State said it had no objection to Ms Mulholland remaining on bail.

The defendant, now living in Portadown, has to sign on twice a week at the local police station.
