Gardai are treating as suspicious the death of a 19-year-old Castleknock man who died in Beaumont Hospital last Thursday as concern grows about the level of violence in Dublin. It was thought at first that Mr David Langan had fallen in the Portobello Bridge area of Rathmines and struck his head, but it has emerged that he may have been assaulted after a night out in Camden Street.

The incident happened at about 3. a.m. on August 25th and Mr Langan was taken to St James's Hospital and later transferred to Beaumont Hospital where he died.

A post mortem examination was carried out by a consultant at Beaumont Hospital and not by the State Pathologist or his deputy.

Garda Insp Simon O'Connor has appealed for witnesses to the incident. They should contact Terenure Garda station or any Garda station.
