Seven players from champions Kilkenny have been named on the GPA hurling team of the year with the selection made up exclusively from the four All-Ireland semi-finalists.

Six of the Kilkenny players pick up a second award following their All Stars last week and are joined by teammate Martin Comerford who is named at left full forward.

Losing All-Ireland finalists Limerick have three players included, Waterford have three representatives with Wexford custodian Damien Fitzhenry completing the selection.

The awards are voted for by a committee chaired by Donal O'Grady and the players will be honoured at a Gala dinner on November 2nd.
