More cattle were seized in Co Monaghan yesterday in the continuing clampdown following the BSE crisis in the UK. Gardai, operating with Department of Agriculture officials, seized five animals in the Tullycorbett area near Ballybay.
According to gardai, the livestock was suspected of having been brought into the Republic from the North in contravention of the controls. A man was questioned about the seizure.
Last week, livestock was seized on a farm in south Monaghan.
