THE British Irish Inter Parliamentary Body has urged all political parties in Northern Ireland to participate constructively in the talks on June 10th and called for an "unequivocal restoration" of the IRA ceasefire.

The call came in a motion passed with one abstention by British Conservative MP Mr David Wilshire.

Earlier, Mr Wilshire had withdrawn amendments requiring that all participants in talks give their total commitment to the six Mitchell principles minimising the role of the Government and requiring an unequivocally permanent IRA ceasefire.

During the debate, Mr Wilshire said unionists "will not sit down with people who are pointing Armalites at them under the negotiating table".
