Aberdeen 0 Celtic 4
The Scottish champions warmed up for Wednesday's vital Champions League qualifier against Basel with a sizzling 4-0 victory against Aberdeen at Pittodrie today to maintain their 100% winning start to the new season.
Martin O'Neill's men blew cold last week in struggling to beat Dunfermline which sent confidence soaring in the Swiss camp. But they sent a chilling warning to their watching European opponents this afternoon by producing an impressive four-goal display to wipe out Aberdeen's new-found optimism with goals for Johan Mjallby, Chris Sutton, Momo Sylla and Paul Lambert.
The visitors took their foot off the gas as O'Neill introduced three substitutes after 72 minutes in Shaun Maloney, Stephen Crainey and David Fernandez with the midweek game in mind.
Larsson, however, was refusing to give up hope of a goal, but after taking Douglas' long clearance in his stride he shot high over the bar to sum up his day.
The Swede might not have exactly frightened Champions League opponents Basel, but his team-mates have given them plenty to worry about for their trip to Glasgow.
