Celtic goalkeeper Magnus Hedman injured a knee this morning and will miss the club's UEFA Cup clash with Stuttgart tomorrow.
The Swedish international twisted his knee in training this morning and has forced Martin O'Neill to rush Robert Douglas back into action.
The Scotland international has not played since December 21st after undergoing a double hernia operation.
Douglas' rehabilitation has been hindered by a thigh injury, but tomorrow he will be thrust back into action early, with youngster David Marshall sitting on the bench as understudy. Recent signing Javier Sanchez Broto is ineligible to play.
O'Neill confirmed: "He (Hedman) had changed direction in training, his studs caught in the ground and he twisted his knee. He will have a scan this afternoon. We will see what sort of damage he has done, but we're hoping it's not too serious.
"It is a blow to Celtic and Magnus. Rab is just recovering from a thigh problem and he hasn't had any games for a while either. But Rab is raring to go and he wants it. He is a strong character and he will start in the game."
