A PURPOSE-BUILT centre for young people at risk of social exclusion has opened in one of Limerick’s regeneration areas.

The Factory, located in the old Fullflex factory on the Galvone Road, was officially opened yesterday by Mayor of Limerick Kevin Kiely and Munster rugby stars Paul Warwick and Alan Quinlan.

The new youth centre, and similar proposed developments in other areas, is a key component of the Regeneration Agencies Programme (2009-2018) relating to the social inclusion of young people through personal, social, sporting and recreational programmes.

Facilities at the new southside youth centre include two indoor soccer pitches, a dance studio, a PC suite, relaxation areas and a cafe.
