Internet gambling company World Gaming has announced that chairman James H. Grossman and non-executive director Clare Roberts resigned from the company's board.

The company said the two resigned at a board meeting held September 21st and that it would announce their replacements at a later time.

World Gaming had announced earlier this month that it was in the early stage of talks with Sportingbet about being taken over in a deal worth about $106.4 million.

That announcement came the same day Sportingbet said its chairman Peter Dicks had been arrested in the US on gambling charges.

Mr Dicks was the second executive from a British gaming company to be detained in the United States in recent months. Former Betonsports chief executive David Carruthers was arrested on federal charges in July.

Mr Dicks, who has resigned from Sportingbet, has been released on $50,000 bail. Carruthers remains under house arrest in the St. Louis area awaiting trial.
