GAA:Some 22 players who lined out against each other in last September's All-Ireland final could come face-to-face again this weekend after being named in the Munster and Leinster panels for the Interprovincial hurling semi-final at Nowlan Park.
Munster manager Liam Sheedy has included nine Tipperary men in his selection, which will be finalised later in the week while every county in the province is represented in the squad.
Leinster boss Joe Dooley has already named 13 Kilkenny players in his panel, the All-Ireland champions making up the lion’s share of the panel. Leinster, who won the title the last time the competition was played in 2009, will be seeking a 28th success.
Elsewhere, both Monaghan and Kildare are expected to appeal the €5,000 fines proposed by the CCCC following the row between players at half-time in Clones last weekend. No suspensions have been recommended to the individuals involved.
Referee Joe McQuillan consulted with his umpires before brandishing a red card to Kildare defender Brian Flanagan ahead of the start of the second half, while his team-mate Padraig O’Neill and Monaghan duo Dick Clerkin and Dessie Mone all received yellows.
