Chance to widen Sellafield question

A RECENT report on the detrimental effect of Sellafield extending across the Atlantic gave this country an important opportunity to internationalise our concern about the British nuclear facility, argued Fianna Fail leader, Mr G.V. Wright.

The report had suggested Sellafield was affecting Canadian waters, said the North Dublin senator. All sides of the House had been supportive of the Government's efforts to bring about the closure of the controversial nuclear powered installation.

This might well be an issue we should be taking up with our Canadian counterparts to high-light and internalise the concerns felt by people on this island, said Mr Wright.

Describing Mr Wright's suggestion as constructive, House Leader, Mr Maurice Manning, said he would have it conveyed to the appropriate Minister.
