An 18-year-old man appeared in court yesterday charged in connection with a fatal road crash in Co Louth last weekend in which two people died.
Daniel O'Riordan of Point Road, Bellurgan, Dundalk, was injured in the collision and arrived at Dundalk District Court in a wheelchair.
He is accused of the unauthorised use of an Audi which was involved in a two-car crash at Annaloughan, Jenkinstown, shortly before 3am on Sunday.
The crash claimed the lives of the driver of the other car, George Campbell (64), of Annaloughan, Jenkinstown, and Dave Keenan (17), from Bog Road, Mountpleasant, Dundalk, who was a passenger in the Audi.
On the day of the collision, gardaí confirmed the Audi had been stolen following a burglary in Newry, Co Down, nine days earlier.
Sgt Brendan Keane gave evidence of arresting the defendant at his home in Bellurgan yesterday evening and taking him to Dundalk Garda station.
The court was told the Garda had no objection to a remand on continuing bail subject to conditions.
Judge Flann Brennan imposed a curfew on Mr O'Riordan and remanded him on continuing bail until May 9th.
