Cape Town - Prince Charles yesterday paid tribute to the work of his ex-wife, the late Diana, Princess of Wales, saying it held great significance for Africa in particular. "Over the last few days, I have been made very aware of the special importance to Africans of Diana's work to combat such things as AIDS, poverty, and the use of landmines," the prince said at a banquet in his honour hosted by President Nelson Mandela. Diana's brother, Earl Spencer, also attended.

The Prince of Wales, accompanied by his younger son, Prince Harry, who flew home yesterday, is on a nine-day visit to South Africa.
