Caracas - The failed coup leader, Mr Hugo Chavez, was sworn in as Venezuelan president for a third time in two years on Saturday, promising to continue his "peaceful revolution" in the South American oil exporting country.
Invoking the spirit of the independence struggle against colonial power Spain 200 years ago, the former paratrooper promised to dedicate his next six-year term to building a "humanist" economic model in the name of the poor and landless.
"In six years, God willing, we will see a Venezuela that has left behind the savage economic and social order of the past that served the interests of the few," Mr Chavez said.
