Glasgow Warriors 30 Leinster 6:Michael Cheika turned his attention to the performance of referee James Jones after watching his young side battle hard in defeat at Firhill tonight. The Welsh official handed out four yellow cards to Leinster players during the 80 minutes, with three of those coming in a second half that saw the home side pull away after leading 16-6 at the break
But Cheika was far from happy with how his side were treated as Glasgow moved up to second in the Magners League table
“I was really disappointed with the officiating,” said Cheika. “We’ve got a young team out on the paddock that needs the game to be officiated the right way to stay in touch with a strong Glasgow side.
“So I’m a little disappointed for them because they put their heart and soul into it. That kind of stuff needs to be reviewed because it can affect the livelihood of a lot of young players,” he added.
Glasgow were denied a bonus point, with their tries coming from Bernardo Stortini and two from Rob Dewey, while Scotland outhalf Dan Parks kicked 15 points in his final home game for the Warriors before he joins the Cardiff Blues next season.
Leinster fullback Ian Madigan missed his first two penalty attempts but came back well to land two before the break to keep his side within range at the interval.
Substitute flanker Dominic Ryan was the first Leinster player to be sin-binned after failing to roll away following a monster hit on Chris Cusiter and the visitors were down to 13 men at the start of the second half when Trevor Hogan saw yellow for a high tackle on the same player.
Rhys Ruddock and Mike Ross would also be sidelined for ten minutes.
