The chemical and technology sectors lifted industrial production by 16.3 per cent on an annual basis in November, according to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
However, the volume of industrial output for manufacturing industries for the three-month period from September to November was 3.1 per cent lower than in the preceding three months, on a seasonally adjusted basis.
According to the CSO said the modern sector - technology and chemical producers - was 23.3 per cent higher in November when compared with the same month in 2006, while output from traditional manufacturers' showed a decline of 3.2per cent.
The industrial production index was 143 in November. The index is measured against a benchmark of 100, which was set in 2000.
The seasonally-adjusted industrial turnover index was 2.4 per cent higher in the three months to the end of November compared to the previous three months, with turnover up6.1 per cent on an annual basis.
