Racing: Classy filly Cheyenne Star has been ruled out of the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Brownstown Stakes at Leopardstown on Wednesday.

Frances Crowley's five-time winner will be taken out of the Group Three heat after meeting with a setback this morning.

"She worked terrifically on Monday but we found her to have a temperature so she will not run," revealed Crowley.

"It's disappointing but it's nothing too serious - we just can't risk her in a race like that.

"She should be back in around a month and we will enter her in the Matron Stakes (at Leopardstown on September 8th) because she's improving all the time.

"There's also a nice Group Three at Tipperary we can think about around that time."

Cheyenne Star's defection leaves just seven runners for Wednesday's seven-furlong feature.

Britain is ably represented by Group Three scorer Wake Up Maggie and the Karl Burke-trained Precocious Star.

The latter, winner of the Masaka Stakes at Kempton in March, hardly set the world alight in the Sandringham Handicap at Royal Ascot but has been primed for the Brownstown for some time.

"This has been the plan for the last six weeks and we go there hopeful," said Burke.

"She was always going to need the run at Ascot and that's why we went there really to get her spot-on for Leopardstown.

"I always had her down as a decent-ground horse but every Bold Fact I've had has improved on soft ground and she is no exception.

"She only just gets a mile so the seven furlongs should also suit."

Unbeaten filly Evening Time and Jim Bolger's Modeeroch spearhead the home challenge, which is supplemented by Sakkara Star, Redstone Dancer and She's Our Mark.
