Gardai in Limerick have launched a child snatch alert. They have put in place a special surveillance system to monitor paedophiles when they move into the city.A Cork motorist was arrested recently after he indecently exposed himself outside a Limerick city school. A file is being prepared for the DPP. The security measures have been put in place in schools and creches, and a Garda inspector liaises with the Mid-Western Health Board to monitor the situation. Community gardai also visit the schools to warn of the paedophile problem and give advice on how to deal with it.A Garda spokesman stressed there was nothing to be concerned about at present. There were reports in recent months of attempted abductions of young people into cars in Limerick and the Munster area.
