A VIDEOTAPE of an interview of a child's allegations of sexual abuse was shown for the first time in a Northern Ireland court yesterday. The video was played at the trial at Belfast Crown Court of a 36 year old north Belfast man who denies raping and sexually abusing his 12 year old niece from 1992 to 1995.
The girl, who was eight when allegedly first raped and abused, was spared having to give direct evidence via a closed circuit link to the court.
After some adjournments Mr Justice Kerr said the trial could continue.
