London - A five-year-old boy was reunited with his distraught parents yesterday after they accidentally left him at a petrol station.

The couple drove away separately from the Tesco garage in Dunmow, Essex without realising their son, Kyle, had gone to buy sweets.

Meanwhile, Bill and Daryl Collins, who have three other children, had driven for more than an hour to Kyle's grandmother's house. After a head count, they realised Kyle was missing.

The boy had slipped out of his mother's Volvo car while she paid for petrol. When she returned she presumed Kyle had got in her husband's hire-car which had already left.
