After eight years on the run, the son of comedian Ronnie Barker has been charged with making indecent images of children.

Adam Barker (44) of no fixed address, attended a west London police station by appointment and was charged with five counts.

He was first arrested in June 2003 and released on bail until the following year but failed to return.

Barker is due to appear at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court this afternoon.

He was believed to have fled to France when he jumped bail, and in 2005 officers said they would allow him to attend his father's funeral if he handed himself in.

He was arrested in June 2003 in a police crackdown on internet child porn, codenamed Operation Ore, and was alleged to have had 1,200 indecent images of children on his home computer.

Barker is the youngest son of the comedian, who starred in shows including Porridge and The Two Ronnies.
