A young boy was killed in Guinea after being hit by a car competing in the 13th stage of the Dakar Rally, race organisers said.
The boy, who had come with his parents to watch the rally pass just outside the Guinean village of Kourahoye, was hit as he crossed the road.
"He immediately received treatment from the medical staff of the rally but died during his transfer by helicopter to Labe," the organisers of the rally said.
The accident happened at the 25 km point of the run from Labe in Guinea towards Tambacounda in eastern Senegal.
The boy is the second casualty of this year's rally after Australian motorcyclist Andy Caldecott died in a crash during the ninth stage of the rally on Monday.
The gruelling race across seven countries and covering more than 9,000 kms ends on Sunday in the Senegal capital. It started in Lisbon on December 31st.
