A children's MRI unit at Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin, will be opened by the Minister for Health Mary Harney today.
Funded at a cost of almost €7 million by the Health Service Executive (HSE) and the Department of Health and Children, the MRI facility has the latest equipment and post- and pre-scan technology.
These include a child-friendly anaesthetic room and artwork that has been designed to calm the children as they enter the MRI department.
Children can watch their favourite DVD during their examination as a DVD player is incorporated into the scanner.
